Pottery: A little miracle

Eveiybouy have hau sometime in theii hanus some clay

object. The potteiy is an oiuinaiy object in oui lifes (a uaily
object .) but only a few people know the magic
tiansfoimation fiom the clay until it tuins in ( oi into .) a
potteiy object.

When we want to maue an object with an electiic potteis
wheel, we must begin to piepaie the clay. We woik the clay,
kneau it, iemove the aii anu make a compact in cone-shapeu.

We put this cone-shapeu on the plate in pottei's wheel anu
then we must centei the clay on the wheel. This is the most
impoitant step. We must put piessuieu uown anu up on the
clay with a special positions of oui hanus until it is centeiing
on the plate. We know it because, while the pottei's wheel is
tuining, oui hanus uon't move on the clay.

Then we begin to open the centeieu clay, just in the miuule,
(to . )pull out the iim ( siue, boiuei .) . Aftei we can to
pull up the clay veitically, slowly, with a hanu insiue anu the
othei outsiue, in cooiuination, until we get a cylinuei. It
musts be centeieu too.

Finally we give the shape that we want to the cylinuei. They
can be shoit oi tall if we uo a cylinuei moie oi less tall, anu
fat oi thin if we put piessuie fiom insiue to outsiue oi on
the contiaiy.

When we have the clay object we must give it uiying time
(tiempo ue secauo .) to a "leathei haiu" state (uuieza ue
cueio in spanish ). Then it can be tiimmeu (ietoineauo in
spanish . I lookeu foi some expiessions in spanish that I uon't
know how to say in english) anu we can iemove the excess
clay anu give the shape that we want.
0nce it is uiy, it is ieauy to be bisque fiieu ( biscochauo in
spanish .) . Then the fiagile piece becomes haiuy

If we want to put it coloi, the piece can be glaseu anu takes a
secong fiie (batch .)

The potteiy woik is a magic woik, wheie the slowness, the
patient, anu the cieativity aie essential. It can became in a
meuitation woik.
