LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Leading The Organization Essential duties include setting a vision and strategy for the organization, solving problems, taking risks and innovating change. Leading Self Leaders need to demonstrate ethics and integrity in action. Display drive and purpose, develop adaptability, and exhibit a strong leadership stature.

Leading Others Leaders need to build and maintain solid relationships, manage teams and work groups, value diversity and communicate effectively.

10 CORE LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES


Vision Good leaders create a vision of the future. They partner with their peers, key employees, and executive teams throughout the organization. Inspirational Good leaders have the ability of inspiring customers, investors, suppliers, stakeholders and board of directors into accepting their vision of the future. Strategic Leaders must routinely monitor their internal and external environment. Tactical Good leaders are result oriented, thrive on facts and figures, or surround themselves with strong financial talent. Focused Good leaders complete current projects before launching new initiates.

Persuasive Good leaders can bring others to their point of view using logic, reason, emotion, and the sheer force of their personality.
Likable Good leaders are people-centric. They display high degrees of emotional intelligence, and thrive on likability. Decisive Good leaders can make decisions quickly often with incomplete data. Ethical Good leaders are direct and straightforward. They set clear performance expectations, and hold people accountable. This requires being direct and truthful.

Open to Feedback Good leaders seek feedback about their performance through direct conversations and reviews. Seeking continuous improvement for their companies, they also seek it for themselves.

These 10 core competencies comprise the essentials of good leadership.

LEADERSHIP COMMUNICATION
Communicating Vision Leaders should be able to inspire passion for, and commitment to an organizations mission by communicating a vision. Vision is the creation of a picture. All operations, education, goals and strategies should be linked to the overall mission, and vision of the picture.
Communication skills The root of effective communication is delivering the message in such a way that the listener will hear it. Good communication occurs through speech, nonverbal signals, and written documentation.

LEADERSHIP COMMUNICATION
Communicating Change If changes are occurring within an organization, it is imperative that leaders communicate frequently with their staff to reduce the stress of a transforming environment. Leaders that know how to intervene and improve situations like these are perceptive and valuable. These commodities are essential for any organization undergoing change.

Conclusion
Competent leadership gives structure, purpose and energy to our missions.
The leadership competency of effective communication provides direction, clarity and focus throughout the different layers of the organization. Competent leadership provides a vision, and visionary leaders for our respective organizations.
