Lesson Outcomes: Students will be able to/know Parts of the guitar, how to echo clapping rhythms, how to clap rhythms themselves, how to play the chord of G Major, general strumming (down strumming) with hand. Assessment of the outcomes: (How will I assess that students have achieved/demonstrated the outcomes?)
Looking at all student chord formations. Employing the help of guitarist student . Diagnostic questioning: on which string do we put our second finger? etc

Get students in and settled, sitting on the floor.

Sitting on the floor straight away so when they sit in chairs later theyll be less sore.

Introduce learning guitar

Letting students know that learning basic chords Students look excited/happy. I, IV, V will (D, G, A) will allow them to play along to many tunes in G Major. Let them know we will learn those chords by the end of this unit.

Go through info letting kids know they will be tested. On these points.
1.Should tune guitar every time you pick it up to play it (eg: every day, not every half hour). Though even the act of playing a cheaper guitar will put it out of tune. 2.We will use a piano as a reference to tune, starting on E. 3.(ask kids to draw 5 notes on a piano with e on it). There is referential tuning. 4. A good way to remember the 6 string note names is Eddie ate dynamite, goodbye Eddie 5.What are the 6 string note names?

Give sheets to kids to fill out the parts of the guitar. On same sheet kids will answer 5 questions relating to the information given above as a resource for them to refer to when practicing at home. Hand out G Major chart and explain how it works. Explain respecting the instruments and if they cannot they will not not participate that lesson. Kids to retrieve a guitar. Tune up to piano. All to form G chord. Go around and check
