This
artifact
was
the
final
project
for
my
Educational
Policy
Studies
(EPS201)
class.
We
were
given
a
range
of
topics
to
choose
from
involving
diversity
in
the
classroom.
I
chose
the
topic
of
Gender
and
Sexuality.
This
project
includes
information
on
the
bullying
of
those
in
the
LGBTQ
community,
gender
stigmas
in
the
classroom,
and
resources
for
these
students
and
teachers
involved.
My
research
was
then
compiled
into
this
presentation.
This
artifact
represents
the
Illinois
Professional
Teaching
Standard
1
Teaching
Diverse
Students.
Why
was
this
artifact
chosen
and
how
it
is
an
appropriate
representation
of
the
standard?
By
addressing
gender
and
sexuality,
this
project
is
representative
of
teaching
diverse
students.
This
project
demonstrates
an
understanding
of
this
subset
of
diversity
and
resources
that
can
be
used
as
an
educator
with
these
students.
The
Illinois
Professional
Teaching
Standard
1
has
many
subdivisions
that
are
represented
in
this
project.
Among
others,
this
project
shows
my
understanding
of
how
to
identify
individual
needs
and
how
to
locate
and
access
technology,
services,
and
resources
to
address
these
needs.
What
does
this
artifact
demonstrate
about
your
growth
and
development
as
a
teacher?
After
working
on
this
project,
I
understand
that
as
an
educator,
I
need
to
create
an
open
environment
for
my
students
in
the
classroom.
This
project
encouraged
me
to
find
resources
for
those
in
need
in
a
specific
subset
of
diverse
students.
As
I
become
more
experienced
with
teaching,
I
will
encounter
students
of
all
different
backgrounds
and
beliefs,
and
I
will
need
to
be
accepting
and
open
for
all
of
these
students
who
enter
into
my
classroom.
My
success
with
this
will
only
help
me
become
more
rounded
and
a
better
teacher
and
individual.
