About This Chapter
APM30H Cabinet
This chapter describes the APM30H cabinet exterior, engineering specifications, application scenarios, as well as boards, modules, and cables in the APM30H cabinet. 2.1 Cabinet Exterior The advanced power module with heat exchanger (APM30H) is used for Huawei wireless products outdoors. It is small and easy to transport. 2.2 Cabinet Engineering Specifications This section describes the engineering specifications of the APM30H, including the power specifications, equipment specifications, surge protection specifications, and environment specifications. 2.3 Engineering Specifications of Customer Equipment in APM or TMC Series Cabinets The customer equipment to be installed in APM or TMC series cabinets must meet the requirements for engineering specifications. 2.4 Cabinet Application Scenarios The APM30H can apply to a distributed base station or a separated macro base station. 2.5 Cabinet Interior The APM30H supplies DC power to the distributed or separated macro base station in outdoor scenarios. It provides space for both the BBU and transmission equipment. If an AC heater or an SOU is not configured in the APM30H and one BBU is installed, 5 U space is provided for the customer equipment. 2.6 Components in an APM30H This section describes the mandatory and optional components in an APM30H. 2.7 APM30H Cables The APM30H cables consist of the power cables, equipotential cables, PGND cables, and signal cables.

The APM30H provides 5 U space for transmission equipment and uses an embedded power system to feed -48 V DC power into the distributed base station, transmission equipment, and storage battery groups in the battery cabinet. When the mains power supply is unavailable, storage battery groups feed -48 V DC power into the distributed base station and transmission equipment.
In a separated macro base station, an APM30H is configured as follows: l The APM30H provides 5 U space for transmission equipment and uses an embedded power system to feed -48 V DC power into the BBU, RFUs, transmission equipment, and storage battery groups in the battery cabinet. When the mains power supply is unavailable, storage battery groups feed -48 V DC power into the BBU, RFUs, and transmission equipment. The APM30H reports alarms from the fans of the RFC, door status sensor, DCDU, and battery cabinet.

BBU3900
Opt ion al
A maximum of two BBU3900s can be configured in an APM30H. l The BBU3900 provides physical ports for communication between the BBU3900 and the BSC or RNC, and enables interaction between the base station and the BSC or RNC. l The BBU3900 provides CPRI ports for communication between the BBU and RF modules. l The BBU3900 processes uplink and downlink data.
EMUA
The environment monitoring unit type A (EMUA) monitors environment of the equipment. A filler module is a 1 U high plastic component, which prevents the heat reflux in the empty space below the BBU.

AC heater
The AC heater ensures that components in the cabinet work within the acceptable temperature range when the surrounding temperature is low. It can be installed in the 1 U space at the bottom of the cabinet. If both an AC heater and an SOU are configured, the heater is installed in the 1 U space above the SOU. The service outlet unit (SOU) transfers AC power supply to the customer equipment. It can be installed in the 1 U space at the bottom of the cabinet.

Functions
The junction box used in the BTS3900AL, APM30H, TMC11H, IBBS700D and IBBS700T performs the following functions: l l The PDU05A-01 feeds power to the junction box in the BTS3900AL. The power is divided into four AC power outputs, which are then provided for the heater in the cabinet. The EPU subrack feeds power into the junction box in the APM30H. The power is divided into four AC power outputs, which are then provided for the heater in the cabinet or heating film in the IBBS200D. The junction box in the APM30H feeds power into the junction box in the TMC11H. The power is divided into four AC power outputs, which are then provided for the heater or service outlet unit (SOU) in the cabinet. The junction box in the primary cabinet (BTS3900A, BTS3900AL, or TP48600A-H17B1) feeds power into the junction box in the IBBS700D or IBBS700T. The power is divided into four AC power outputs, which are then provided for the heater in the cabinet.

The fan mounting frame is installed on the front door of the cabinet, and configured with a fan. The central monitoring unit type EA (CMUEA) controls temperature, detects Boolean alarm, and identifies the ELU. The electronic label unit (ELU) reports the cabinet type automatically to facilitate troubleshooting. The storage batteries provide long-duration backup power for base stations. The power distribution box is installed on the upper right wall of the cabinet interior. It transfers and distributes input power to the TEC or fan and storage batteries. The door status sensor monitors the status (open or closed) of the cabinet door. The IBBS200D must be configured with a heating film in cold areas. The heating film is not required in general areas. The junction terminal provides the input power port for the heating film.

Functions
A fan mounting frame performs the following functions: l l The fan promotes the inner and outer air circulation of the cabinet to ensure that the cabinet work within an acceptable temperature range. This allows the batteries to work properly. The monitoring board installed in the fan mounting frame collects the alarm signals from the door status sensor, battery temperature sensor, fans, and smoke sensor in the cabinet, and it reports these alarm signals to the PMU through an RS485 signal cable.
The types of monitoring boards installed in the fan mounting frames vary with the versions of cabinets. The following table lists the types of monitoring boards. TEC
The TEC ensures the normal operation of the IBBS200T in high-temperature areas and dissipates heat from the storage batteries. The central monitoring unit type EA (CMUEA) controls temperature, detects Boolean alarm, and identifies the ELU. The electronic label unit (ELU) reports the cabinet type automatically to facilitate troubleshooting.

5.4.1 TEC
A TEC dissipates heat for the storage batteries and ensures the normal operation of an IBBS200T in high-temperature areas.
Exterior
The following figure shows the exterior of a TEC.

Function
A TEC performs the following functions: l If there is a sun shield, and the ambient temperature is 500oC (122oF) without solar radiation, the TEC ensures that the temperature is equal to or less than 40oC (104oF) in the cabinet when storage batteries are in float charge and equal to or less than 45oC (113oF) when the storage batteries are in boost charge. If there is no sun shield, and the ambient temperature is 50oC (122oF) with solar radiation of 1120 W/m2, the TEC ensures that the temperature in the cabinet is equal to or less than 45oC (113oF) when storage batteries are in float charge and equal to or less than 50oC (122oF) when the storage batteries are in boost charge. The two indicators on the CMUEA panel indicate the status of the CMUEA. The following table describes their meanings. Table 5-6 Indicators on the CMUEA panel Silkscr een RUN Color Green State Blinking (on for 1s and off for 1s) Blinking (on for 0.125s and off for 0.125s) Steady on Steady off ALM Red Steady off Steady on Blinking (on for 1s and off for 1s) Meaning The board is functional and communicating with the BBU properly. The board is functional but fails to communicate with the BBU or the board is not registered. The board is in the power-on self-check status. There is no power supply, or the board is faulty. No alarm is reported. An alarm is generated, and the board must be replaced. An alarm is generated, and the alarm may be caused by an associated board or port fault. Therefore, you need to locate the fault before determining whether to replace the board.
