When it comes to my literacy i do not have the average story. !as ta"ght at home by my mother K#$th grade. So cannot say that had some teacher greatly a%%ect my literacy at a yo"ng age. honestly can not remember !hen %irst began to read. t seems li&e it '"st happened. (y mom also bo"ght me several reso"rces to better my reading and !riting s&ills. remember !hat my mom had me to do !hen !as %irst learning to read, it !as called hoo&ed on phonics. t !as annoying, )irst yo" sit there and listen to a !oman so"nding o"t letters or !ords, then yo" !o"ld loo& at a lon list and try to do it yo"rsel%. *his too& a long time and !as boring and +m not s"re it really helped me a lot. loved this one partic"lar game it !as Reader Rabbit. ,t the time, my parents had not p"rchased a comp"ter, so !o"ld go play

it at my grandparents ho"se. t+s so %"nny to thing abo"t the comp"ter played it on, it !as so big and b"l&y, b"t seemed so cool at the time. -o" also had to !ait ten min"tes '"st %or it to t"rn on. *his game helped yo" ma&e !ords and read sentences !hile playing %"n games.

(y mom loved b"ying boo&s and still does. *hro"gho"t my child hood al!ays had a plethora o% boo&s available %or me to read. .nly no! do reali/e ho! l"c&y !as to have had the ability to read di%%erent boo&s anytime i !anted. !as homeschoole !ith

my t!o sisters !ho are both older than me. remember !hen co"ldn+t read and !e !o"ld be driving do!n the road. !o"ld see a b"nch o% billboards and signs and as& my sisters to read them to me0 ho!ever, it got on their nerves to read every sign to me. (y mom !o"ld contin"ally tell "s ho! important reading !as to o"r ed"cation and li%e. She !o"ld ma&e "s read boo&s that ta"ght "s li%e lessons and gave "s a bigger pict"re o% the !orld. She also made "s read biographies o% pioneers, soldiers, and missionaries !ho s"%%ered to ma&e a di%%erence in the !orld. ,ll these stories have a%%ected the !ay !ant to my li%e and do in the %"t"re. there are many do!nsides to homeschooling0 ho!ever, there are many "psides. .ne o% the "psides !as that !hen reading a boo&, did not have to !rite an chapter s"mmaries or ans!er 1"estions. ninth grader, all these reading activities stole all o% the %"n and added stress to the reading. Reading ta&es me o"t o% the !orld, i% only %or a little, !hile and allo!s me to enter someone else+s li%e or story, and in t"rn %orget abo"t mine.

So started my o!n list o% the boo&s have %inished. t isn+t very long yet, b"t !ant to &eep it "pdated and !hen get older can loo& over it and co"nt all the boo&s have read. .nly one teacher in my high school career really made an impact on my reading and

,s hid earlier there is a lot o% positive and negatives in homeschooling. When !as yo"nger and being homeschooled did not do a lot !ith !riting. (y mom mainly %oc"sed on teaching "s vocab"lary and grammar, b"t not act"ally !riting. When did !rite0 ho!ever, my mom graded it harshly and didn+t give me good %eedbac& to help me. got a lot o% e6perience !hen !as little0 ho!ever, it greatly improved !hen entered high school. don+t believe all homeschoolers are behind in this area, it '"st happened in my sit"ation. dont+t li&e !riting on an academic level, b"t love !riting to comm"nicate to

people.When !as little one o% the things loved to do !as send letters and cards to people. *his !as be%ore te6ting and had an email. (y mom !o"ld ma&e me !irite on a separte sheet o% paper %irst !hat !as gonna say so !o"ldn+t ma&e mista&es !riting on the act"al stationary. t !as al!ays %"n pic&ing o"t!hat &ind o% pretty stationary yo" !ere going to "se, then %ig"ring o"t !hat to say, then getting to go p"t it in the mail bo6. *here !as something neat abo"t someone ta&ing the time to read yo"r letter and sending one bac& to yo".
