The Welsh Hills School Summer Camp provides hands-on experiences that foster creativity, a love of learning, and a connection with nature, all within a supportive community. Besides having some of our campers old favorites such as swimming, Culinary Masters, Kidstown and more, we also have several new Traditional and Specialty camps that will be offered. New Traditional Camps include Fun and Fitness, Camp Carnival, Art and Music as well as Animal Planet. New Specialty Camps include Beginner Horsemanship at Hope Farm Granville, Earth Explorers, Advanced Earth Adventures, Simply in Season, and Experience Ancient Ohio Day Camp. This summer we even have two programs for adults: Beginner Horsemanship at Hope Farm Granville and Simply in Season for Adults! Now you can join in the fun too! Registration Space is available on a rst come, rst serve basis. All registrations and deposits for Traditional Camp are due by 3 p.m. on May 25 for the rst 5 weeks of camp and June 29 for the last 3 weeks of summer camp. Registration is not complete until the non-refundable deposit of $35 and completed registration is received. The remaining balance is due one week before you childs camp begins. If registrations are received after the deadline, a fee of 10% of the total will be assessed. There will be no refunds after 9 a.m. on the Monday of each week for changes made to your campers schedule for that week of camp. To receive the Early Bird Discount, registration must include payment in full and is due by 3 p.m. on April 27. The $35 non-refundable deposit does not apply to the Early Bird Discount. The camp fee for Traditional Camp includes snacks and a t-shirt. Welsh Hills School reserves the right to cancel programs that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements. Please note, the registration deadlines for Traditional Camps are dierent than those for Specialty Camps. Specialty Camp registration deadlines are listed in their descriptions.
Early Bird Discount (The Early Bird Discount only applies to Traditional Camp and not to Specialty Camps.) Traditional
Age Groups: 4 to 6-year-olds and 7 to 13-year-olds All camps are held at Welsh Hills unless otherwise specified. All campers must be potty-trained to attend camp. *If you enroll 3 or more children in the same week of Traditional Camp, you will receive a 20% discount.* Traditional Camp Pricing and Registration Deadlines: May 25 for the rst 5 weeks of camp June 29 for the last 3 weeks of camp Before Camp Care (BCC) ($35/wk) 8:30-9 a.m. Campers meet for Before Camp Care in the Country Kitchen. They create a weekly menu and cook a yummy breakfast with the opportunity to use our garden each morning. Come hungry! Half-Day Camp ($100/wk) 9 a.m.-Noon Campers engage in fun activities based on the week-long theme. They cook, craft, explore, imagine, play, sing, dance and create friendships. Full-Day Camp ($165/wk) 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Campers enjoy theme-based activities with camp friends and teachers each morning. After lunch and outside play, fresh new activities are explored. Afternoons ($85/wk) Noon-3 p.m. The Afternoon option is ONLY for campers who have signed up for a Half-Day Specialty Camp, but need Full-Day Care. If based on state standards, your child needs to use a car seat, please leave their car seat at camp every Monday and Thursday morning. Leaders in Training Program (LIT) The LIT program is a character building program for campers ages 10-13. Each week, participants will focus on one characteristic of a positive citizen including trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.The students will partake in a variety of activities that exemplify and demonstrate each characteristic.Some of these activities include: managing the garden, taking part in a service learning project and participating in team building exercises.By the end of the program, campers will discover a sense of self as they become positive mentors for all of the campers and leaders at Welsh Hills Summer Camp.It is suggested that campers in our LIT program be registered for at least 3 weeks of full day camp to get as much out of the program as possible, but 3 weeks of attendance is not required. There is no extra cost for the LIT Program.

4-6 year olds Welsh Hills Camp Fair NEW! Note: This is a 4-day week. No camp on Wednesday, July 4th. Granvilles Fourth of July Street Fair will be in full swing, so why not create our own fair at camp?! Lets celebrate this time of year by creating our own masks, learning magic tricks, playing carnival games put on by the 7-13 year olds, and more!
7-13 year olds Camp Carnival NEW! Note: This is a 4-day week. No camp on Wednesday, July 4th. Lets celebrate the Fourth of July by putting on our own Carnival! We will create our own fun house, put on a talent show, learn about other independence celebrations around the world, and will host carnival games for the 4-6 year olds. Celebrate this wonderful time of year with us!
7-13 year olds Mad Scientists As Mad Scientists, campers will be conducting numerous scientic experiments and getting messy. We will be performing hands-on science experiments such as making soda explode, baking an apple pie with no apples, and much more. There will even be a whole day devoted to water experiments. For this week of camp, expect to have fun with science, get wet, and make a splash!
4-6 year olds Art and Music NEW! Let music inspire us as we create art! We will be painting, sculpting, and drawing as well as dancing as we let music guide us in our creations. We will also get the chance to try our hand at playing dierent musical instruments such as a key board and metal drums. Campers are invited to bring in their favorite music for everyone to listen to. Come let the rhythm ow as we jam out and make art. 7-13 year olds Lights, Camera, Action! Do you have a passion for the theater? Campers will put together their very own theatrical production. From writing the script, designing the set and costumes to acting, directing, and staring in their own performance, the campers will be in charge. On Friday, friends and family are invited to the production where campers will show o their hard work and fun they had during the week. Come experience the thrill of the stage!
7-13 year olds Kidstown Have you ever wished you could grow up faster? This week campers will create their own town and choose their own profession that will help the town function as a community. To help the campers decide on a profession, local professionals will visit campers to share their experiences about their own chosen careers. This week is a favorite among campers. Come build your own business as well as friendships while creating your very own Kidstown.

Beginning Horsemanship at Hope Farm Granville Come join the fun in the barn! Meet the sheep, horses, cats, chickens, bunny and emu. Spend time getting to know each horse. Learn to care for horses and riding equipment as well as learn the basics of English and Western styles of horseback riding. Join us for an exciting week on the farm! P.A.T.H is an international group which oversees the excellence in therapeutic horsemanship through ongoing education, certications and upholding standards of quality. Earth Explorers Join us for a week of adventure at the Spring Valley Nature Preserve where we will explore the forest, a tall grass prairie, and a meandering stream. We will also build forts using only natural materials, get wet in the stream as we follow animal tracks, and use nature to create art. Come use all of your senses to connect with this beautiful natural area and discover a deeper sense of place. With the introduction of primitive living skills, together we will learn how to create a shelter that will protect us from the elements just like squirrels, blend in with the forest by camouaging our bodies with mud and debris, and learn how to see and hear like native people around the world. Discover a real sense of adventure while exploring creeks and climbing hillsides! Grace Gordon graduated from Miami University in 2004 with a degree in Geography and Environmental Science and has been teaching for six years. She has taught students in kindergarten through 8th grade in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, as well as Alum Creek State Park. She is certied by the National Park Service in presenting eective educational programs, completed a 9-month instructor training program through Coyote Trails School of Nature where she was trained in wilderness awareness and survival skills, and holds CPR and Wilderness First Aid certications.
Simply in Season for Kids Connect with food, friends, and become family as we cook, preserve and eat together during Simply in Season. Campers will learn how to prepare and preserve foods at their tastiest and ripest. They will use vegetables, fruits, and herbs from the school garden, the instructors garden, and farmers markets that will last well into winter with canning and freezing. Campers will can or preserve, depending on the harvest: pickles, sauerkraut, raspberry jam, green beans, applesauce, peaches, and tomato sauce using traditional methods of lactic fermentation, salt brines, and little sugar. We will also freeze green beans, corn, tomatoes, peaches, and applesauce. Campers will take home a jar of each food or freezer package prepared during camp. Each afternoon we will also make a nutritious snack from the garden produce. Lets enjoy the fruits of the season together! The Newark Earthworks Center at OSU-N presents Experience Ancient Ohio Day Camp Did you know that Native Americans lived in this area of Ohio 2000 years ago? This week we will learn how the Hopewell Culture survived by trying our hand at activities and skills they would have used. We will learn how to knap a point from int, throw a dart with an atlatl, make re by friction, taste Native American food, play games that connect us with the land, and more. Experience Ancient Ohio and expect to form a unique bond with the land and the Native Americans who called this beautiful part of Ohio home. Mary is also the Director of the Welsh Hills School Summer Camp.

Teddy Todd learned food preservation through 4-H, and life experience with her grandmother and mother. She continued her education at The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Science, Masters of Science in Curriculum and Vocational Administration, and ending with all doctoral course work completed in Educational Leadership at KSU. She is a retired educator of 35 years and has taught 3 year-olds to college level students. She served 12 years as an educational consultant with the Ohio Department of Education and ve years as an elementary principal. She and her husband own and operate the Rock Spring Farms, south of Granville, with her son. They raise beef cattle and grow and preserve their own food.

Meet our Summer Camp Director Mary Gordon This is Marys fourth year as Summer Camp Director, but she has worked at the Welsh Hills Summer Camp o and on since 2006. She received her Bachelors of Science in Education from Miami University in 2004. Since then she has taught 8th grade Social Studies for two years, and now is a school group tour guide for the Newark Earthworks as well as a substitute teacher for Granville Schools and Welsh Hills School. If you cant nd her at camp she is probably out playing in the woods. Meet our Camp Counselors for Traditional Camp Grace Gordon Grace has been a Camp Counselor for Welsh Hills Summer Camp since 2008. She graduated from Miami University in 2004 with a degree in Geography and Environmental Science. Her passion is teaching children outside. Emily Contini Emily attends Washington and Jeerson College and is a Child Development and Education Major. This will be Emilys second summer as a Camp Counselor. She has worked with children of all ages through internships at college as well as traveled to Costa Rica to teach English to elementary-aged students.
