Title of Lesson: __How stressed are you?: Micro Teaching Experience #1- Cognitive Domain

1. Goal(s) 13.1.6. Demonstrate stress management strategies for family, work, and community settings (NASAFACS) 2. Prior Knowledge Ask the class to explain/define what stress is. Ask what are the signs and symptoms of stress. Ask the individuals if they currently have any stress management techniques that they use. Ask the individuals if they feel in control of their stress.
3. Learner Outcomes: Following the presentation, learners will be able to verbally explain what stress is and list five signs and symptoms that may be experienced (Cognitive). Following the lesson, learners will be able to identify the difference between positive and negative thinking in order to manage stress (Cognitive). By the end of the session, individuals will write down at least three stress management strategies on the worksheet given (Cognitive). By the end of the session, individuals will verbally express if believe they are in control of stress in their lives (Cognitive). 4. Assessment of Learner Outcomes: After the presentation, when asked in a group discussion, individuals will be asked to explain what stress is and what are signs and symptoms that may be experienced (Level II, comprehension). In a group discussion, given a negative/stressful situation, learners will be able to formulate a positive response (Level V, synthesis). Individuals should be able to develop and write down at least three stress management techniques (Level III, Application). 5. Procedures: Activity 1: Breathing exercise. Have the learners close their eyes and take five deep breaths. While they are doing this, tell them to clear their mind and relax. (Body, kinesthetic) Presentation about what stress is, the signs and symptoms that can be experienced, and the effects it can have on the mind and body. Activity 2: Complete the How stressed are you? worksheet. Learners should list On the whiteboard, make a list of stressful situations. Have individuals in the group list their stressful situations. As a group, compose a plan to help manage those stressful events. 6. Questions: How would you summarize stress? What approach would you like to use to overcome stress? What do you think about stress? What do you think about stress management? Can you formulate an action/reaction for the next time you feel stressed? Can you assess the value of stress management? How would you select to manage your stress?
