REXBURG POLICE DEPT. TO RELEASE PROMOTIONAL VIDEOS Videos Introduce Community to the Dept. and Answer Important Questions REXBURG, Idaho- The Rexburg Police Dept has partnered with BYU-Idaho students to produce videos addressing key safety issues in the local area. The videos come as part of a Community Safety Education campaign that answers the question, How do the local police affect our community? There will be a total of 10 videos. Five of these videos will address hot topics such as, domestic violence, prescription drug use or coping with victimization by crime. The remaining five will introduce members of the Police Department with their specialized training. The department feels that as people begin to understand the training given to individual officers they will better understand the work the police do. Each officers training is made to address issues that occur in Rexburg. For example officers are trained in drug identification, detective investigatory work and specialized FBI training. Residents are often unaware of local dangers, and police anticipate these videos will help create awareness as well as promote positive action by citizens. Chief Shane Truman of the Rexburg Police Department said: We are creating a series of videos on helpful topics concerning the safety of Rexburg. The videos will be available in one place on a Youtube channel for citizens of our community and those that might be visiting our community to access." Officers have contracted the work to BYU-Idaho video productions teams to produce quality video that answer needs of a growing student population and local citizens. These videos will be available by late December and can be found on the departments YouTube channel.
