Well, before we get to the judging of evil, let

us first take a look at a prominent part

of both Hitlers and Stalins existence...

STYLE

Hitler was a fashionable man.

But look at Stalins hair. Just look at his hair. His elegant moustache.

ALAS,

Stalin cannot prevail over this. Hitler is the superior model.

It is good that we have worked that out. However, we can not base our judgements of these people solely on style. Tempting as this may be lets move on to the actual slideshow.

HITLER

Hitler decreased unemployment rates.

Positives of Adolf Hitler

Hitler helped decrease overpopulation. Hitler decreased cigarette consumption in Germany. He couldnt stand smoking; he thought it was an immense waste of money. He could not even stand in the same room as someone who was lighting up a cigarette. Thanks to Hitlers attitude, the anti-smoking movement was taken more seriously in Germany than it was in other places.

Hitler cared about animals. Helped cause the placement of some of the very first laws against animal cruelty

Hitler wanted to be an artist. He applied twice to the Vienna Academy of Art and was denied both times. (Perhaps he was a little bit bitter about it).

Hitler was a vegetarian. It is suspected that one of the reasons for his vegetarianism was the witnessing of an autopsy of a former girlfriend.

 Hitler caused great hope for the people of Germany, through whwat had been a time of despair, after the defeat of the Treaty of Versailles.

Hitlers sexiness in shorts was a true inspiration to other people who wondered if it was possible to rock shorts that fashionably.

Hitler encouraged racism Hitler deceived the common people

He blamed any problems that Germany had on others. Anyone other than himself.

Hitler ordered medical experiments on people in death camps. Essentially, he tortured them.

Hitler brought dictatorship to Germany.

Hitler started the Holocaust which killed 11- 14 million Jews and other minorities.
Hitler started WW2 which killed 50 million people, including 12 million Germans.

He was extremely self-centered and possibly even narcissistic. He refused all other opinions. Even the opinions of his generals.

Stalin Positives
Stalin planned the economy subject to control of the government and launched the first five-year plan.
Stalin also created other five-year plans later on in the shadow of his first five-year plan.

Industrial capacity increased immensely.

He was put in charge of a legendary newspaper called Pravda, and contributed significantly to the newspaper business.

-He prevented the depression in Japan -He developed the Secret Police for Russia

-Under Stalins rule, the USSR went from became significantly more technologically sophisticated.

He improved the standard of living for citizens

He was big on childrens rights- all children, no matter poor or rich, must go to school. Through hard work and intelligence they would be able to improve their childrens social status.

STALIN. Negatives and some Flipsides

BAD: Displaced 10 million Soviet Farmers.

BAD: Sent millions of Ukranians to death camps.

BAD: Many people died from his process of making the Heavy Industry. BAD: Starved 7 million people. This was so bad that it resulted in CANNIBALISM and eating plants. BAD: Killed merchants because they didnt conform to his communism

BAD THING: . One of the most powerful and murderous dictators in history, Stalin was the supreme ruler of the Soviet Union for a quarter of a century. His regime of terror caused the death and suffering of tens of millions.
GOOD FLIPSIDE - Oversaw the war machine that played a key role in the defeat of Nazism.

BAD THING: His crash programs of industrialization and collectivization in the 1930s and his campaigns of political repression cost the lives of millions of people.
GOOD FLIPSIDE: It helped make the Soviet Union the second largest industrial nation by 1937.

BAD: Caused the greatest man-made famine in the 20th c.

BAD: Killed millions of his own citizens on his whim to preserve himself. See Khrushchev's "Secret Speech to the 20th Party Congress. GOOD: Guaranteed Soviet citizens universal access to third-rate housing, health care, clothing, food, etc.

BAD THING: His confrontational foreign policy and his domestic terror regime (the "Stalinist system") had an impact on Soviet society and politics well beyond the dictator's death of natural causes at age 73 on March 5, 1953. GOOD FLIPSIDE :Many of his policies were supported & exploited by his successors unto Mikhail Gorbachev came into power.

Who do I think is worse?

I have read people say on the internet a few times that Stalin was worse because he killed people more liberally, so to speak, often killing his own people, while Hitler only target specific groups I do not really agree with this line of thinking myself. The way that Hitler was the most choosy with which categories of people to kill (ie. Jews, homosexuals, gypsies) makes him seem worse to me. The deliberation of his killing and the way that he put some people so, so much higher above others is what is the most disconcerting to me, and it is for that reason that I shall now tentatively state Hitler to be the worst of the two.
