Assessments Accommodations If children do not know how to pronounce the word, I will assist them in sounding out the word. There will be no early finishers or slow pacers because this will be a group activity, and there is no independent work required.

The assessments for this lesson will allow me to see where each student stands with prior knowledge and where they are once the lesson is completed. Before teaching my lesson, I will pre assess the children with the use of a checklist. The post-assessment will be evaluated using a checklist as well. The pre-assessment for this lesson requires each student to report back to their seats according to the number of syllables in their name. The pre-assessment will allow me to see the students prior knowledge on the subject of syllables. The during assessment for this lesson is in the form of questions. As I am reading the book, I will stop periodically and ask how many syllables are in that specific word to see if the students are grasping the concept. I plan to use this assessment as a guide for the students understanding. The post-assessment for this lesson are

provided in the form of an index card. The students are required to place their index card with the word on it, in the correct column. This assessment will helps me identify if each student met the objective and understood the concept that was taught. The assessment results enabled me to make room and possibly teach a lesson on how to break down spoken single-syllable words into their complete sequence of individual sounds. The students now know how to see how many syllables are in a single word. Now they can work on breaking down simple words according to their sounds.
