! I claim the substance does affect the pH level. My evidence is the pH level changed for different substances. For example, the coffee has a higher pH level than the real lemon. Also, some of the substances we had to redo because the pH level was debatable. We noticed that the mixed substances all had the same pH level as the substances we used to make them. For example, in mixture C which was real lemon and coke, it had a pH level of three and real lemon was the only other substance with a pH level of three. Also, we mixed baking sodaw/H2O and coffee together and the pH level was eight which is the same pH level as baking sodaw/H2O. We noticed that the powerade, rock star, tea, Mt.Dew, Pepsi, Coke, and coffee all had a pH level of four. We noticed all of the substances that have a pH level of four have caffeine in them. The essentials+, no iodine saltw/H2O, and spring H2O all had a pH level of ve and they are all water substances. Only one water substance didn't have a pH level of ve. Your saliva in your throat has a pH level. If you drink something that is a different pH level than your saliva, you might get a different pH level. I think it depends on the amount you drink. If you drink more pop than saliva in your throat, you probably will have the same pH level as the pop. If you drink less pop than saliva in your throat you probably will have the same pH level as your saliva. !

In checking with the experts I learned almost all liquids are either acids or bases. pH levels measure how acidic or basic a liquid is. From 0 to 7 are acids, with 0 being the strongest. From 7 to 14 are bases with 14 being the strongest base. If a liquid has a pH of 7, it's neutral. This would be something like distilled water. That led me to learn that almost all of the liquids were acids.
