We have decided to work on stars and planets because it has been an inspiration for us because we love the way

the universe works as well we enjoy that we work together as a team to try and work are way up to becoming astronomer, we will be explaining the facts and showing you cool pictures!

Stars are formed in vast areas of dust and gas called Nebulas. The movement of the gas and dust will make gigantic heavy lumps which will start to collapse under the force of gravity. As the cloud collapses the material in the centre begins to heat up due to the pressure and friction. Stars are mainly made up of hydrogen and helium (hydrogen is the most common element in the universe) As the young star continues to get hotter and brighter it comes to a point were it ignites but does not explode because of its enormous gravitational force . This can take 10 million years to happen.

Our Sun (star) is about 4.6 billion years old and will continue to get hotter and brighter for at least another 10 billion years. Over the next 5 billion years or so, it will grow steadily brighter as more helium accumulates in its core. As the supply of hydrogen burns, the Sun's core must keep producing enough pressure to keep the Sun from collapsing in on itself. The only way it can do this is to get hotter. Eventually it will run out of hydrogen. At that point, it will go through a change which will most likely result in the complete destruction of the planet Earth and the whole solar system.

Stars take about ten million years to be born. Stars can live for ten millions years depending on there size, Our star (Sun) because its so big it will live for another 10 billion years. This is the famous constellation called Orion , which has a famous star called Betelgeuse . They say that in a few years it will explode into a super nova and light up the sky like the Sun does . In the constellation there are three famous stars called Alnitak , Alnilam and Mintaka which makes up Orion belt. Orions next door neighbour is Taurus , They are next to each other because in the roman time a man called Orion fought a bull called Taurus Orion courage won the battle and the greek gods named a constellation after him and one for the bull.

Stars are like a sparkler because you set it alight (stars go boom!!)
