Method of Selecting Teams

These 6 teams are based on NCAA division 1 college or university hockey programs that the students selected. There are 6 teams with 5 players on each who were selected by the teacher. The teams were selected based on skill level, characteristics of the students, how they behave in class, friendships in class and other information that was gathered in previous classes. These teams were made as even as possible to make sure that all

games are fair. If students are known to cause trouble with each other or there were good friendships that may have caused off task behavior these students were separated.

Manager
The managers will represent each team by gathering any equipment that is needed for that day whether it is games or practice. They will make sure the nets are ready at the start of class. Also they will make sure all equipment is picked up at the end of the day. Some other duties are:

Let the team know what time and what court they are playing on. Let the team know who they are playing Right at the start of the class period the manager from each team will meet with the teacher to get the needed equipment and if there is game play what time, where and who they are playing for the first game. During the classes where games are being played, after each game the manager will be given the final score from the scorekeeper and the report it to the teacher. Then they will find out when and where their next game is.

Captain
This is the leader for each team. All decisions are made final by the captain. He or she makes plays, picks strategies, and picks what is best for the team. Teams should be making play together but the captain is the one who makes them final. Other duties include: Running drills and practices Incorporate plays and strategies into practices Motivate the team Know all rules of the game At the start of each class the captain will take attendance for his team and report it to the manager who will then tell the teacher when they go to get the equipment. From this

point on the captain is in control of the team for the class period.

Statistician
The job of the statistician is to record the stats that occur in each game their team plays in. They will be allowed a few second after each goal or stoppage of play to write a statistic down if they need to. Individual Stats: Goals, assists, saves, points per game(this is goals plus assists) Team Stats: Wins, losses, total goals, total shots. At the end of each day of game play, the statistician will report the highest scorer from their team to the teacher. The most important thing about being the statistician is you need to be completely honest when recording and reporting all statistics.

Referee
The most important thing for the referee is they need to be paying attention while playing the games because it would not be fair if someone sat out of the game just to referee. Again it is important that the referee is honest too because there can not be unfairness in the games. During the games the referees are required to: Make sure all students are safe Know the rules of the game Be sure to control unsportsmanlike behavior Be honest and fair when making calls During the games there will be two referees(one from each team) who will have to both agree on calls for them to be enforced.

Trainer/Instructor
The role of the trainer is to warm the team up and get them ready for class. Also they have to report any injury to the teacher and lead the cool down stretch at the end of class. The stretching will include: Dynamic Stretch- butt kicks, lunges, high knees, quad pulls, leg swings. Static Stretch- toe touches, heel to butt, knee hugs, arm pulls, arm circles The warm ups and cool down stretches are very important because if your team is not warmed up for game play then there could be muscle pulls or other injuries. Stretching is a very important part of physical activity, it can help prevent injuries. If any injuries do happen then they should be reported to the teacher right away.

Season Objectives

Tournament Bracket

MICHIGAN IS THE WINNER

Floor Hockey Rules
Setup The game is played on a hard surface(basketball court) 94 feet by 50 feet. There are 6 players on each team including the goalie.

The game is played in 3 20 minute periods but because we do not have that time it will be 3 4 minute periods. The objective is to shoot the ball into the net and the team with the most points at the end wins. If there is a tie then extra time is added and the first team to score wins. Game Play The goalie is the only person allowed in the crease at all times. The goalie can use their hands, feet, body, and stick to stop the ball. The game is started with a faceoff in the center of the court. All goals are worth one point. Faceoffs restart the game after a goal or at the start of the period. Roughing violations result in a 2 minute penalty in the penalty box. These violations include high sticking, contacting an opponent with the stick above the waist, contacting the goalie, pushing, tripping, hooking, or blocking an opponent with the body. After a penalty the opposing team start the ball at the center of the court.
