Habit #5- Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood- I listen to others without interrupting, I try to see things from

their viewpoint, I am confident in voicing my own ideas Grade: 2nd Lesson: Study Skills Time: 20 minutes Materials: -The 7 Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey -Listen Carefully! worksheet (Following verbal instructions) -Instructions worksheet for Listen Carefully -Following Written Instructions worksheet (Following written instructions) Procedure: -Review the story from Habit #5 in the 7 Habits book -Pass out the Listen Carefully worksheet -Introduce the worksheet as a test and students must listen to the instructions carefully and do their best. -Read the questions one by one -Have the students take out a pencil and grade their own papers -Talk about the importance of listening to instructions/ask what they learned from the activity. -Give students the Following Written Instructions worksheet -Go around and check answers as they finish. Finished students can color their papers.
