INTRODUCTION
Metal box India ltd factory at worli was a unit located within Mumbai. The factory made number of metal packaging products. There major competitors were poysha and zenith which were also operating from their Mumbai factories MBIL had number of factories all over India: Mumbai, Kolkata, Faridabad and Chennai. They also coordinated with their UK based principals. this firm primarily concentrated on designing, printing and making different types of metal can.

THE AEROSOL INDUSTRY

The aerosol industry is a big industry which had nine hundred end use application had been developed. The unique dispensing mechanism ensured the spraying of the right quantities with minimal wastage. The valve had eight different components. The standard one piece cylindrical body was of 4oz,6oz,8oz,10oz,12oz,and 18 oz.

MBILS PROBLEMS
Mbil, with its international connections was not too keen to go in for large scale market development efforts . There was a integrated machine at worli factory imported in the late 60s which was lying idle and being used only 5%of its installed capacity. Due to rationalization system of production, the aerosol containers made at worli unit had to be printed in the hide roads factory only. The assembly of eight separate components had to be organized at worli factory. Filling machinery had to be imported.
