Half Day Seminar

Organized by

Introduction to Mooring
by

DNV-GL Deepwater Technology Centre

Synopsis
A mooring system is made up of a mooring line, anchor and connectors, and is used for station keeping of a ship or floating platform in all water depths. A mooring line connects an anchor on the seabed to a floating structure. During this course an introduction to the different types of mooring systems for offshore floating structures (Floating Production Systems, Semi- Submersible, Tension Leg Platform and Spar) will be presented.

Course Outline

DNV GL Group Presentation What is Mooring Classification? Types of mooring systems Global analysis (Hydrodynamic, Mooring) Project Examples Return on Experience Mooring Failure Investigations Mooring Research Initiatives Wrap Up Session & Experience Sharing with students

THE SPEAKERS
Organized by
Tore Hordvik (MSc) Mooring & Hydrodynamics Engineer Tore joined DNV as engineer in the Hydrodynamics & Moorings section at Hovik in 2011. He is currently on an exchange program in the Floating systems section within the Deepwater Technology Centre in Singapore. Tore graduated in 2011 holding a master degree in Marine Technology and specialization in Hydrodynamics from The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Before joining DNV, he has work experience from the Statoil research centre analysing full scale data of the Hywind prototype floating wind turbine. In DNV, Tore has experience from projects including activities like global motion response analyses, riser analyses, design and analysis of catenary and taut leg mooring systems, full scale data analysis, response analyses of floating offshore wind turbine structures and reliability analyses. The project portfolio includes several joint industry projects, verification projects, advisory projects and class approval projects. His main experience and skills are within floater motion response, mooring systems, statistics and programming. Software skills includes Simo, Riflex, Mimosa, Matlab and Python.

Diane DESTREZ (MSc, AMRINA, SNAME Member) Mooring & Hydrodynamics Engineer Diane recently joined DNV as Floating Systems Engineer within the Deepwater Technology Centre in Singapore. Diane is graduated with a Master Degree in Hydrodynamics & Offshore Engineering from ISITV (France). She has 3 years experience in the Oil & Gas industry and has been working on a significant number of offshore mooring systems designs (8) in West Africa (Nigeria, Angola) and South East Asia (Myanmar) in both Deepwater and Shallow Water areas. She has also worked on a Pipeline installation project in Brunei. Her main skills are seakeeping, heading analysis, dynamic of mooring lines, floater excursion, clashing, fatigue, side by side offloading analysis for FPSO.
