Buy right ITIL v3 books –

print or download ? [PMIT.PL BLOG – PROJECT & IT MANAGEMENT BLOG]

The article is provided by the courtesy of Mateusz Jasny the PMIT.PL blog author. The PMIT.PL is a
blog on topics like: Project Management (Project Standards, Certifications, Prince2, PMBOK, Control,
Audit, Methodologies, Risk Management, Programme Management, Portfolio Management...) and
IT Management (ITIL, COBIT, other IT Management Frameworks, courses, knowledge libraries,...).

Don’t you have ITIL version 3 books yet? Are you wondering, which version to choose? It is
better to buy the book, PDF, or an online access?

Not so long time ago I had the same problem, I think that’s very common, the subject has
been discussed on the IT Skeptic Blog. IT Skeptic summarizes very well what must be taken
into consideration when choosing the form of purchase.

I also decided to buy the print version but did not share the opinion of IT Skeptic. He
encourages buying first the “Introduction to the ITIL Service Lifecycle”, and later other
books. I think it’s worthwhile to buy everything at one time. “Introduction …” is a great book
when it comes to become familiar with ITIL basics, it shows the general concepts and where
to look further, which book to open and where.

But for practical application in ITIL “implementation”, it is to briefly.

If I’m interested in some topic, first I look into “Introduction..,” and after that (If I need more)
to one of the five remaining books. The content of “Introduction …” is to shallow, and there
is no time to read the full version, so it is the best to combine those two versions.
