MMED MRCP 4 year programme less training in all the gen. 1 yr basic surgery + med. subspecialties and more exam, part 1 training focused on specific 2 yrs rotation + subspecialty of your choice exam, part 2 less wholesome than MMED 1 year work as registrar (6 mths in but faster (possibly save 1-2 general medicine + 6 yrs) mths in a but after passing MRCP subspecialty of your exam, you will need to do 18 choice) months training as registrar Present research in for accreditation Part 3 exam The competing pool and, you will have to queue for training in up for places for subspecialty subspecialty as training registrar is only within the university the competing pool is whole No years saved (2 Malaysia (harder to get a yrs H/O + 2 yrs M/O) place)

Subspecialty training

SLAB = Skim latihan bumiputera -Adjustable geographical places -Can apply during 2nd foundation year -Application into MMED could be completed as early as 1 year (possibly) post foundation - You have to work then -Higher INITIAL pay rise - After 10 years in fact you will get higher pay rise - Similar to those who do research (and apply for associate professorship not yet attained) -Work = Teaching (20%) - But 80% of time is given into bedside clinical teaching - Could possibly research to get higher status (professorship) and earn more money MOH = Ministry of health

Subspecialty specific organ system

MMED = Masters in medicine (specifically internal medicine) Registrar = A Specialist Registrar or SpR is a doctor in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (similar in Malaysia) who is receiving advanced training in a specialist field of medicine in order eventually to become a consultant (Masters). In surgery, also referred to as Higher Surgical Trainee or HST. MRCP = Purely examination - Must wait 18 months after graduation - 6 months clinical practice (foundation) - Needs to involve emergency medical patients - To work for UK (GMC approved) - 1 year if wish to work elsewhere - Can apply during 2nd foundation year -Useful to cut short even foundation practice - Go straight into SUBspecialty training - Obviously ur not well rounded then and lacking in practice Application into MMED could be completed as early as 1 year (possibly) post foundation
