Assignments
Monday -Do a picture walk through the book. -Write your prediction IN YOUR HOMEWORK NOTEBOOK. -Go to the last page of the book. Write your vocabulary words down with the definition and draw a picture for each word. Tuesday -The comprehension focus for this story is Summarizing. Write the definition of summarizing in your notebook. -Write down 4 questions that you have about the story in your notebook. -Read the story. Wednesday -Reread the story. -What is the authors purpose? (Persuade, Inform, Entertain) - Find two examples from the story to support your answer. Be sure to include page numbers. Complete this assignment in your H.W. notebook. Thursday -Reread the book -Write down 5 facts that you learned from the story. -Write down 2 questions that you would like to ask. -Write down 1 thing that you learned. Friday -Reread your book to someone. -Complete the graphic organizer that is attached to this homework sheet.

Writing

Monday- Interview a family member about his or her job then write a short summary about it (2 paragraphs). Interview Questions: Does your business make a product or provide a service? What is the product or service? What is it that you do? Tuesday- Write the information you gathered from the interview questions in complete sentences on a new page. Gather 1 -2 (small) pictures about the product or service and include a photo of family member. Wednesday- Use information gathered and sentences written to construct your 2 paragraphs. Add more details if needed. Thursday- Edit your writing using a red pen, showing how you would enhance your writing. Friday- Publish your writing on a loose-leaf paper and attach pictures of product or service and family member at bottom of page. Pictures should be able to fit on one page under scholars writing.
