The Charity conducts free Mam-| mograms, Cancer in the coming months The Trust will also be conducting awareness camps for Cervix, Prostate and Oral Roko Cancer Charitable Trust in alliance with AWWA (Army Wives Welfare Association) organised an A India Breast ‘Cancer awareness and detection drive for the families of the Armed Forces stationed the Tength and breadth of country in the month of July, Free mam ‘mograms were conducted. by the ROKO CANCER MOBILE DETECTION UNIT and pa- ticnts were educated on breast, cervix and oral cancer through Tectures and awareness talks, Breast Self Examination pam- phlets and brochures were cir- culated and a film on cancer awareness was screened, To date 2,372 women have been examined and 378 mammo- grams have been done. 20 camps have been organised t0 we and many more will be held in the upeoming months. ‘Total Camps A. Breast Cancer awareness and detection campaign was structured at Delhi by the charity in the months of June and July in partnership with FORTIS HOSPITAL international oncology). The campaign was prearranged on | an enormous seale. Patients were made aware about the benefits of Self’ Breast Ex- amination and early detec- tion, Free mammograms were conducted to provide the nec- essary help. The campaign witnessed a huge turnout with 892 examinations and 412 mammograms. Roko Cancer Trust conducted a 5 day campaign on Breast Cancer awareness and detec- tion from 21% June 09 to 26" June 09 in collaboration with ‘ahayta Organization, work- ing in urban and rural arcas of Chandigarh, The patients were educated on Breast Self Examination techniques through a demonstration by well-qualified doctors, The campaign marked a huge success with a total of 548 examinations and 137 mam- ‘mograms. The two NGO's took further responsibility for providing help to terminally ill patients. On 28" July 2009, a presen- tation on Breast Cancer awareness was conducted by the charity at the American Embassy. ‘The presentation commenced with the sere ing of Love for Life a fil about the need to alert ‘women t0 the seriousness of getting a Breast Examination done, Dr. Puneet Gupta, a well- known oncologist from APOLLO Hospital, shared briefly with the addressees the origin, symptoms, treat- ment and prevention of Breast Cancer. The presenta- tion concluded with the public interest message, ‘The Breast Cancer awareness ‘and detection campaign was organised by Roko Cancer ‘Trust on 8 July 2009 in as- sociation with "Intemational Oncology at the American Embassy. Physical examina tions and mammograms were performed on patients and they were interviewed on their Knowledge of Breast Cancer. On June, 09 the BREAST CANCER awareness programme was organized at Henna Asian Women’s Group, U.K The pro- gramme was received well by the members lof the group. There were thirty women pre- sent. The documentaries were well roceived and everyone agreed that they were a good way of getting the message across to the ladies. The mela was very wel tended with over a 1,000 people attending. More then 500 inndied leaflets were distributed and interest inthe documentaries was shown by both men and women with messages from Pamela and ‘Yash Chopra attracting most ofthe attention, ‘The outcome from both melas shows that leaflets in the community languages as well as in Eng- lish are in demand as in Plumstead where there is large Punjabi community all dhe leaflets inthis language were gone by the end of the day.
