Drug Abuse is the act of ta ing addicti!e or illegal drugs" #t has become an epidemic" #t$s a problem that will most li ely ne!er completely end" %indings ha!e disco!ered that ma&or health problems are associated with drug abuse" Drug abuse could lead into many different problems, and that is including death" Abuse is found within all age groups, sometimes more fre'uently depending on the situation or area" (eople ha!e different reasons for using drugs some are !iable, while others aren$t" Drug abuse affects the person using and e!eryone else around them" There are many programs that are set out to help people who abuse drugs" These programs are !ery important in today$s society without them) many people could still be dealing with this problem" Drug Abuse Affects Everyone All different age groups ha!e people who abuse drugs in them" #n adolescents and young adults the main illegal drug that is misused is mari&uana" The drug use is more fre'uent in rural areas rather than in urban and suburban areas"*American Journal of (ublic +ealth ,,-.,/0"1 This shows that location does affect the amount of people who abuse drugs in an area" 2ertain drugs could be found more pre!alent in the urban areas, or !ice !ersa" The elderly ha!e more medical problems than most people" This gi!es them a higher chance to abuse prescription drugs, because they ha!e more opportunities to get to them" Sometimes it happens by accident, and others abuse them to feel different" #n
