Primary Schools Sports Funding Sports Premium The Government is providing funding of 150 million per annum for

the school years 2013/2014 and 2014/2015. This funding is being provided jointly by the Department for Education, Health and Culture and Media and Sport. All schools with seventeen or more pupils will receive a lump sum of 8,000 plus a premium of 5 per pupil. This funding will be ring fenced and given to headteachers to spend on improving the quality and provision of sport and PE for all children. Suggested uses of the Sport Premium Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE Supporting and engaging the least active children through new clubs Paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and sport and providing cover to release primary teachers Running sport competitions, and increasing pupils participation in the School Games Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and sport Our Aims Raise standards in PE across the school through high quality teaching Raise participation levels of pupils taking part in competitive sporting activity or sports club How we intend to use the money? Hiring Dancefest to support the teaching of dance Hiring village hall to provide much needed space when teaching PE CPD courses for staff to attend. E.g. Hi5 netball, swimming courses Release time for staff to attend CPD courses Transport for children to attend sporting events Introduction and the expansion of House Sports competitions Investment in planning resources Introduction of new clubs during Spring and Summer term Purchasing necessary equipment to support the teaching of PE and Sport
