DOES YOUR FAITH MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22 TODAY Tuesday, Septem er !1, 2!!" James 1:22#2$ %ev. Arthur J. Schoonveld

Once upon a time, accordin& to an old le&end, Satan called a special meetin& with several o' his demonic a&ents to decide on the est way to turn people away 'rom &od. Durin& the meetin& several su&&estions were made. One devil su&&ested all#out persecution, while another wanted to try to turn as many elievers as possi le into atheists. Several others spo(e up, until an older a&ent rose to say that the est way to turn people away 'rom )od is to try to convince them that their 'aith does not have to ma(e a di''erence in their everyday lives. *et them sit in church on Sunday, sin& their son&s, con'ess their creeds, repeat their prayers, and listen to their sermons. +ut convince them that their 'aith does not have to show in the way they live, and you,ll turn them into lu(ewarm -hristians. And once they have ecome lu(ewarm, they will e o' no use to )od. Thou&h this story is 'ictional, we (now that throu&hout history Satan and his a&ents have spread the lie that we can have our 'aith without puttin& it into practice. To e.pose that lie, James wrote his letter. /t,s not enou&h to e hearers: hearers have to ecome doers. Says James, 0Do not merely listen to the word1 Do what it says.2 3e have to as( ourselves, 0Does my 'aith really ma(e a di''erence42
