The Glasgow Coma Scale
The Glasgow Coma Scale is often used as a method of briefly quantitating neurological dysfunction
The GCS allows a more precise assessment of neurologic status than the AVPU method. It measures best responses in 3 categories: eye opening, motor response, and verbal response.
A modified version of the scale has been adapted for assessing infants and young children (usually up to age 5) who lack the developmental maturity to speak or respond to commands
