Pada industri manufaktur industri besar, industri menengah, dan industri kecil harus dilengkapi dengan suatu peralatan-peralatan yang memadai agar produksi dari industri tersebut berjalan dengan lancar. kita mengenal banyak mesin perkakas atau mesin yang mendukung dalam dunia manufaktur, Salah satunya adalah mesin bor. Dengan mengetahui adanya kebutuhan salah satu peralatan produksi yaitu mesin bor oleh pihak LIK Lembaga Industri Kecil !, dengan demikian maka timbul pemikiran dalam perancangan prototipe mesin bor yang nantinya di harapkan dapat melengkapi mesin - mesin yang berada di Lembaga Industri Kecil. Perancangan prototipe mesin bor ini merupakan salah satu penyederhanaan dari mesin bor yang telah ada di Politeknik "anufaktur #andung yaitu mesin bor $illardon. Penyederhaan yang di lakukan tetap memperhatikan fungsi-fungsi dasar dan tuntutan yang ingin dicapai dari mesin bor tersebut . Dengan dibuatnya rekomendasi ini, ditujukan agar dapat terciptanya suatu rancangan mekanisme transmisi putar yang akan diterapkan pada prototipe mesin bor column , yang nantinya dapat dijadikan sebagai rujukan dalam pembuatan prototipe mesin bor , dapat mengisi kebutuhan mesin bor pada Lembaga Industri Kecil.
