SOUL MATES
A soul mate is someone who has locks that fit our keys, and keys to fit our locks. When we feel safe enough to open the locks, our truest selves step out, and we can be completely and honestly who we are; we can be loved for who we are and not for who were pretending to be. Each unveils the best part of the other. No matter what else goes wrong around us, with that one person, were safe in our own paradise. A lady inserted an ad in the classifieds: Husband wanted. Next day she received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing: You can have mine. At a cocktail party, one woman said to another, I notice you are wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger. Why is that? The other women replied, I married the wrong man.

THE OYSTER
There once was an oyster, whose story I tell, Who found that some sand, had gotten into his shell. It was only a grain, but it gave him great pain, For oysters have feelings, although they are plain. Now, did he berate the harsh workings of fate, That had brought him to such a deplorable state? No, he said to himself. Since I cannot remove it, Ill lie in my shell, and think how to improve it. The years rolled around, as the years always do, And he came to his ultimate destiny, too. Now the small grain of sand that had bothered him so, Was a beautiful pearl all richly aglow. This tale has a moral, for isnt it grand, What an oyster can do with a morsel of sand? Think what could we do, if wed only begin, With some of the things that get under our skin.

THE SEASONS OF LIFE

Here is our take on the seasons of life. As you ponder these, keep in mind that sometimes you will experience them as a married couple, and sometimes as individuals. SPRING This is the season of joy, when new growth occurs. Your marriage starts in this season. Your children are born in this season. SUMMER Ah, those lazy, crazy days of summer. This season is made for relaxing, vacationing and renewing. This is when your marriage seems like its in cruise control with no concerns or worries. AUTUMN Summer can lull you into complacency. You may even begin to take your marriage for granted. But gradually, some of the things youve worked so hard to achieve start turning sour.

Autumn is the season of disappointments and unfulfilled expectations. This is the time to take stock of your relationship. Make corrections when necessary and give thanks for the good things you have. WINTER Doubt, disasters, disease, and death characterize this season. Nobody willingly enters this time of life, but it will come at different times in your married life. You may be surprised when a brand new spring melts your coldest winter. But it will. Just like nature needs every season to continue its course and produce its bounty, you need to go through every season in order for your marriage to thrive.

Each type of friendship with ones partner comes into being, rises to a peak of enthusiasm, and then wanes away in our cedar chest of sentimental values. Every once in a while we go to the chest and draw out a friendship item to give us a shot in the arm. Then we put it away till another day.
