Objective:To determine the Q-Point of diode

Material Required:Resistor, Diode , connecting wires, power supply.

Theory:Diode:When a single crystal of semiconductor is doped as p-type from one side and as N-type from other side then a simple PN-junction diode is formed. Forward biasing:When positive terminal of battery is connected with p-side and negative Reverse Biasing:When positive terminal of battery is connected with N-side and negative terminal with P-side than a diode is Reverse biased. Q point:- The point at which diode starts conducting or the at which current come against the voltage. Procedure: First I completed the circuit by connecting the diode, resistor in series & giving variable voltage supply. Using the values of voltage across diode Vd &current through diode Id i draw the graph of diode. First I find the OFF-point and ON-point of diode and using these points I draw a straight line this line is called the DC-load line. The point at which the curve of diode and DC-load line is meeting is called the Q-point. From this point I draw a straight horizontal line intersecting y-axis making the point IDQ and draw a vertical line intersecting the X-axis and making the point VDQ.

Conclusion:I conclude that we can find the Q-point theoretically and also graphically. The point next to .7v is called Q-point.
