en set of circumstances, in a specific environment and within a particular field of action. o o Actions which are performed by one or more individuals strategically using their own specific competences to achieve a given result. Social agents develop a range of competences, both general and particular communicative language. Language activities involve languages processes to produce and/or receive texts in relation to themes in specific domains (strategies).

Competences: knowledge + skills+ characteristics that allow a person to perform actions. General competences: not specific to language Communicative language competences: specifically linguistic Context: events + situational factors, both internal and external. Language activities: exercise of one s communicative language competence in a specific domain processing one or more texts in order to carry out a task Language processes: chain of events !neurological " phsyological# involved in the production and reception of speech and writing. Text: se$uence or discourse !spoken and%or written# related to a specific domain and which in the course of carrying out a task becomes the occasion of a language activity. Domain: broad sectors of social life in which social agents operate. Strategy: organised, purposeful and regulated line of action chosen by an individual to carry out a task. Task: any purposeful action considered by an individual as necessary in order to achieve a given result in the context of a problem to be solved, an obligation to fulfil or an ob&ective to be achieved.
