What is a pond?
a body of standing FRESH water, either natural or man made, usually smaller than a lake may be part of river system or isolated depressions universal size has not yet been decided upon

 habitat for wetland plants and animals

Purpose
1. Production of fish and other wildlife 2. Source of food for humans 3. Help maintain water quality by recycling nutrients 4. Provides irrigation reservoirs in times of drought

has a depth of 3 to 4 feet require a pump and filter system to remove fish wastes and keep the water clear and healthy need shade to keep the fish cool and to prevent algae growth

Goldfish Pond

not as big as Koi pond since goldfish dont grow as big as Kois

Backyard/Garden Pond

for aesthetics in ones backyard, usually small

Industrial Pond

purpose is to store water as part of some industrial process
