PG is one of state-owned companies engage its bussiness as a fertilizer producer PG has 3 plants , which are : Plant I (Nitrogen based-fertilizer) , Plant II (Phosporic based-fertilizer), and Plant III (Sulphiric Acid Plant) Plant II itself has 8 NPK Unit. Totally 32 rotary equipments consist of Granulator, Dryer, Cooler, and Coater are running into operation in Plant II.

Rotary Dryer 22.M.362 Issues

After about 2,5 years operation, girth gear was found crack. Repair was done, but vibration trend in the gearbox and electric motor tend to increase than before.

Consequently, production losses due to decreased load to help reduce the vibration

Before we replace that ruptured girth gear, knowing the root cause of that crack is really important matter. Actually we have carried out some investigations, but still no found a conclusion because of incapable to conduct special measurement. In some literatures are stated that the degree of ovalization of either shell or tyre contributes to the girth gear cracking. Although another parameter such as shell axis and roller alignment cant be just neglected. Finally, a comprehensive inspection is regarded as one of crucial step before taking the next action.
