PUNCTUALITY
We have noticed a number of children arriving late at school, which is a significant issue for us. When children arrive late, they are missing out on their learning and it is also disruptive for the other children and teachers. We all know that Dubai traffic is very unpredictable, so please set off in plenty of time to ensure your children are at school by 7.30am in time for lessons to start promptly at 7.40am. If children do arrive late, for a good reason, please ensure they walk through reception so they can be marked on the register. This is very important in case of an emergency at school. There is also an issue with children who are brought into school much later in the day for various reasons such as wanting to miss a particular subject or because they overslept or began the day feeling unwell. 1. No child should miss any curriculum subject, including swimming, unless they have a medical note from a medical practitioner to this effect. The general rule is that if they are well enough for school then they are well enough for all activities. However, children should not be in school if they are in danger of spreading disease. In terms of the school as an organisation, the nurses and our newly appointed doctor are the people who are qualified to decide about such issues. 2. It is not acceptable for children to appear part-way through the day other than for a reason which is legitimate, such as an appointment. Should you need to make an appointment for your child that is impossible to organise after school hours, please email your teacher to advise, and also copy info_JPS@gemsedu.com on the email. It is vital that you email both in case your teacher is ill or misses the email. Your child will need to report to reception on arrival at school. As always, I thank you for your support and understanding in these matters. It is much appreciated. Best wishes,

This workshop is for all parents of children in Year 2 as they partake in their end of KS1 assessments. The presentation will outline the purpose of the assessments and how they will take place, offer practical advice on how you may support your child at home and give you a better idea of the nature and routines of the tests. I look forward to seeing you there!

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR CHILD FOR END OF KEY STAGE 1 ASSESSMENTS (SATs) th Tuesday 11 March 7.45am in the Main Hall
The PE department will be operating swim try-outs for new children and children who consider their swimming performance to have considerably improved since the start of the year. There will also be the opportunity for identified Year 2 children to try out (these will be invited by their PE teacher if it is appropriate). The format of the try-outs will be that every child will swim their desired stroke/s and their performance will be compared to a qualification time. Any child who matches or betters the qualification time will be invited to swim squad training sessions; times will be displayed prior to the try outs starting. The sessions will run on the following dates:
Year 2 identified children AND new starters to JPS since September; Any children who feel that they have improved significantly Sign up sheet will be available in the swim corridor
Please be advised that, for health and safety reasons, parents are not allowed on pool side during swim try outs or during swim squad training
The PE Department is currently conducting a survey about physical education at JPS, and would very much appreciate it if parents took part it will only take a few minutes! The link to the survey is: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JPS-Parent-survey-PE Thank you
