Total evaporable moisture is the water found at the surface of the particle or those that can be evaporated by drying

or applying heat. In this experiment, the group must determine the total evaporable moisture content in aggregates. The group hopes to develop a clearer understanding of the different components of concrete. After the group had followed certain steps and procedures for the experiment the results are as follow: the weight of the samples for the sand and gravel are 531.6g and 3009.6 respectively. After the samples were put into the oven and dried for at least 24 hours, the weights are taken as 519.8g for the sand and 2995.4g for the gravel. The formula of

was used in order to compute for the total evaporable moisture for both samples. The group had obtained values of 2.27 for the sand and 0.47 for the gravel. This would mean that sands can absorb and contain more moisture than gravel. Lastly, the group concluded that the experiment was a success since the values are close or within the expected range of 2-6% and 0.5-2% for the sand and gravel, respectively.
