World History Religions Paper

Many problems in our world, past and present, have been caused by religious
disagreements/conflicts. We have seen many conflicts recently between the Arab
and Christian worlds, the Irish Catholics and Protestants fight to the death through
terrorist attacks, and similar situations are seen between Israel and Palestine.
Because religion is such an important topic throughout the world and throughout
history, your assignment is to delve into some of the different major religions and
present about one of them to the class.

You will write a 4-6 page paper (no less than 4, no more than 6) answering the
following questions:

1. Who is the supreme Deity in your religion of study? Are there any other key
religious people in this faith?
2. Does this faith persecute people of different faiths, either currently or
historically?
3. How do they evangelize new people?
4. What do you feel are the most interesting and/or intimidating parts of this
faith?
5. Choose one other religion from the list below and do a short compare and
contrast of the two religions.
6. Is there any other interesting information that you feel needs to be included?

You will also need to create a 10 slide PowerPoint presentation about your topic,
including pictures, and giving an overview of the information you put in your paper.

Your paper must be in Times New Roman font, size 12, double spaced, and have
standard margin sizes.

Topics we will choose from – We will be drawing topics. You will have some in class
time to work on this paper; you will most likely need to find time outside of class to
finish the paper and presentation.
