Introduction Total time: Upon entering the gym, students will get a pedometer and set it to zero Lesson Objective(s): Students will be introduced to different muscles, as well as exercises that target those muscles Planned Transitions: Students will be split into two groups: Group One Fitness Room (see lesson plan four) Group Two Multi-Purpose Room (continue with this lesson plan)

Assessment

Students should report to their squad lines upon entering class

Students will be assessed through their pedometer at the end of the class period

Hamstrings, Gluteus Maximus, Quadriceps, Calf Muscles, Abdominal Muscles, Pectoralis Major, Triceps and Biceps

Students will be assessed by the completion of their muscle and exercise guidance t the end of today, as well as next class period Assessment Students will be assessed through observation throughout the main activity of this lesson: Are they following all safety procedures? Are they staying on task/not messing around? Are they using proper form and technique for each exercise? Students will also be completing their

Main Activities Total time:

Students will already be in the multi-purpose room. They Will be asked to gather around in a tight bunch Students will review all safety procedures A brief overview of all 20 exercises will take place. Planned Transition: Students will cool down by walking a lap around the multipurpose room

Formations / Assessment Strategy

Turn in pedometers and muscle/exercise worksheets: Students will write their pedometer number on their muscle/exercise worksheets to receive a Write in the pedometer number on worksheet grade for their activity level today. before turning in Remind students to bring a pencil to the next Class period Assessments: Throughout this lesson, students will be assessed throughout a variety of ways. Students will be assessed through their pedometer at the end of the lesson. Their overall goal is to see how many steps they can get throughout the entire fitness unit Students will be assessed through observation in the fitness room. Are they following safety protocols? Are they staying on task? Are they performing an appropriate number of reps? Are they using proper form and technique for each exercise? Students will be assessed by their completion of the muscle/exercise worksheet. This will show me that they understand what exercises target what muscles. This is important because they will be tested on this information at the end of the unit. Equipment needs Pedometers, Writing Utensils, Muscle/Exercise Worksheet, NonWeight Task Cards, Music, Towel, chairs, ledges (bleachers pulled out would work), ab mats, timer for plank station. Safety Considerations Physical space around individual performing each exercise Using the right form and technique when performing each exercise Using the appropriate number of reps when performing each exercise

Differentiated Instruction Students will have task cards located at each fitness station in the multi-purpose room. The card will provide them with information regarding proper form and safety concerns. There are also pictures that physically allow them to see what their body should look like throughout the exercise. Classroom Management/Democratic Practices Students have been split up into two groups to insure that students will have plenty of opportunities to perform all exercises in the multipurpose room.
