ICT Integration Statement and Uses of ICT within this Project

The purpose of this task is to provide a statement articulating the integration of the 10 ICT resources that we be used in addition to the internet and the interactive whiteboard to produce our four lesson unit. This statement will include why we selected the ICT resources that we did and how they might be used as a learning tool (rather than teaching tools with a classroom setting. Our group chose to utilize the Theory of Multiple Intelligences in supporting our learning; we will also explain how some of the resources listed below appeal to different types of learning styles, coined by Gardener.

Spiderscribe and Bubbl.us: These two resources are both mind-mapping tools and we
used both in our planning and presenting components of this assignment. Bubbl.us is more user friendly and simpler to navigate but spiderscribe has more within the program.. The use of a brainstorming/mind mapping tool is very helpful when dealing with visual/spatial learners, verbal linguistic learners, logical/mathematical learners and if you were to use this a whole class activity then you could incorporate bodily/kinesthetic by getting children to add their own notations to the mind map.

World Atlas (.com): This resource comes under internet usage, but because it was so
valuable we decided to include it in as an ICT that you could easily use within a classroom. It is an online, interactive world atlas, with searchable features. This resource appeals to logical/mathematical learners and visual spatial learners.

YouTube: YouTube was used to research and support lessons showing video clips that
were relevant to the subject that we were learning about, helps to support those learners who are predominantly visual/spatial, interpersonal, intrapersonal and musical rhythmic.

Ipads: Ipads were used to support two of our lessons. They were useful in ensuring that
children had the opportunity to engage in an activity that was predominantly hands on. The students were encouraged and directed to use the Ipads and explore the application that we were going to use further in subsequent lessons. Ipads appeal to all learners and children seem very confident with them.

Ipads supported the curriculum well in this aspect because it was used alongside an activity that was directly catered to the Year 2 Geography Strand.

Google Earth: Google Earth is a fantastic program that provided the crux of our
lessons. It is an interactive World Map, Globe that is searchable and tangible when used in conjunction with an ipad. We used Google Earth because it both utilizes ICT in the best way possible by being interactive, educational, fun and creative and it appeals to ALL learners. This is an application that engages and involves all students. Pairing students together that have experience a range of differences also supports and nurtures learning.

Quia: Quia is an online program where you can create an interactive quiz for students to
complete. It is also viable assessment tool, as you are able to view their results and use this for further planning in future lessons. It can be a little difficult to navigate so some assistance/instruction is required. We used this program to create a quiz, assess our learning objectives and support our Geography topic within the Australian Curriculum.

Queeky: Queeky is an online drawing tool that is similar to Microsoft Paint. (The
following is taken from Queeky.com). With Queeky you can draw and chat with others (useful within a class), draw with your fingers on an ipad or mobile device (useful for supporting and introducing mobile technology usage) and save your drawings online. This program appeals to visual/spatial, verbal/linguistic, logical/mathematical and bodily/kinesthetic learners.

Kidblog: This is an online blogging tool, which was used to deliver instructions so that the
whole class could access them easily. It can also be used to deliver messages, content, posts, and announcements which is all very convenient when incorporating ICT into a classroom.
