Numeracy in Action AT1 Group Meeting - Thursday 13th March 2014

Topic 1:

Briefing on Minutes & Clarification on Task Details and Description

All group members expressed their understanding of individual research done in the passing week. Confirm all group members are on track with how to complete all parts of unit plan. Each member will contribute to sections in unit plan regarding their selected strands and content descriptors. A lot of information was shared on ambiguous task descriptions. Unclear aspects of unit plan and task descriptions were listed to clarify with lecturer/course coordinator. Some information to assist in with clarification was retrieved from previous collaborative sessions as well as Q&A forums on Moodle. Task Due Date: Week 6 Friday (11-Apr-2014) 5pm.

Topic 2:

Delegate content descriptors

An equal amount of content descriptors were narrowed down from Strands selected in the previous week. Group members conversed on content descriptors which will complement each other logically as well as synchronize the unit theme. It was decided that two descriptors per group member would be allocated. Group members expressed their level of comfort ability with certain strands topics. Although all content descriptors allocated did not fall under the same strand, all group members were satisfied with sub-strand allocations.

Topic 3:

Aims for following week - Individual Weekly Plan & LEP

Regardless of concerns about what a weekly plans look like, it was decided to proceed with our individual weekly planning. Not wasting time on layout technicalities. All group members discussed what would possibly be appropriate content to add in a weekly plan. Members were to consider the following: - Overview of 2 weeks planning (paragraph) - Learning sequence (5 days p/week) - Incorporate similar teaching strategies discussed - Think about formative and summative assessment covering weekly content Group members shared examples of weekly plans from previous work observation experience. It was decided that we could use our weekly plan in progress and adjust where need sees fits when and if a suitable template is confirmed.

Topic 4:

Collaborative on-line Platform

Group members clarify if anyone has problems in managing the chosen collaborative site. All members are to complete their weekly planning and LEP with formative assessment activity (optional) for next meeting and publish on site. Minutes from each meeting are to be posted on site. Group members proceeds to collaborate on the Weebly site. Weebly: http://www.slmslh.weebly
