Assignment/Prompt: Look at your T-chart from the past two days and make a decision: Overall, did the director make positive changes to the text, negative changes to the text, or about an equal mixture of both? Create an argumentative claim stating your decision. Before you begin writing: Read the editorial examples, Hunger Games: Movie vs. Book Review and Percy Jackson Lightning Thief: Movie vs. Book Review. 1. Analyze how the authors supported their claims with evidence from both the text and the film.

2. Analyze the authors organizational strategies and word choice and how you can apply those in your editorial to convey your argument.

Pre-Writing: Create an outline, organizer, or rough draft to help formulate your thoughts and evidence for each version, the book and the movie. Make sure that you have at least 6 pieces of evidence in your outline and they must reference both versions. Writing Requirements: Write your argumentative essay that includes the following. Clear statement of the title of the text/movie and your argument in the introduction Minimum of 3 paragraphs including topic sentences and transitions Minimum of 6 pieces of evidence Evidence must come from both the book and the movie Final draft must be proofread (No glaring spelling or grammatical errors! Make sure you indent each paragraph!) Final draft must be written in pen Staple this paper to the front of your essay for grading!
