SODA CAN FLOAT


Students Activity Guide 1. Fill the plastic tub with water of about 90%. 2. Display one can of regular soda and another can of diet soda. 3. Predict in your science notebook how the cans will behave when placed in the tank of water and why. 4. Share your prediction and reason with your classmates. 5. Observe carefully as one of your classmate will place each can in the water. 6. Why does the regular soda sink and the diet soda float? 7. In your group, brainstorm ways to figure out the observed phenomenon. 8. Record your plan in your science notebook on how to accomplish this and share with the class. 9. Once all of your planning is done, seek the approval of your teacher to start the investigation.
