Shannon OGorman Skit presentations Why did we do it?

This allowed us to see that communication skills are not just verbal; they can also be displayed through movement, gestures, and pictures. This activity put us in the shoes of an ELL student who is not able to understand what is being said around them, but they are able to understand the actions that are taking place. How did we relay our message? In my group, we relayed our message through familiar songs, sounds, pictures and dance moves. I think the most effective strategy we used was showing the class pictures. It allowed them to understand and grasp the message we were trying to relay. What could you do to relate this to ELL? This strategy not only helps aid in an ELL students understanding of what is going on around them, but it also helps the whole class. This method of relaying messages doesnt single out the ELL student, it gets the rest of the class engaged in an active method of learning and communication.
