Reflection Questions Directions: Answer the following questions about your job shadowing experience using complete sentences. Be thorough in your answers as some of your answers may be incorporated in your senior portfolio presentation speech and or final reflection paper. 1. Was the job shadow you completed the same career field you identified in your career PowerPoint? If you completed the experience in another field, explain why there was a need to change career fields. (i.e., I was not able to set up a job shadow experience in my intended career field OR After taking a closer look at the field, I found that I was more interested in). The job shadowing I completed was not in the same field as my career PowerPoint, I completed my job shadowing experience in the nursing and different aspects of the medical field because the career I had chosen earlier in the year I did not see fit me for this time in my life. 2. As a result of your job shadow experience, are you still planning to pursue the same career or has the experience led you in a new direction? Explain. I am planning to pursue a career in my job shadowing field which is the medical field. This job shadowing only made may want for this career stronger.

3. During your job shadow, what skills did you observe that are needed to be proficient at this career? The skills I observed that are needed to be proficient in the medical field is writing, communication and social skills along with being able to follow directions. 4. What activities and or duties did you like/dislike about the experience? During my job shadowing experience I like the fact that I was able to socialize with people I have never met before and that I was able to help people that could not help themselves. I disliked that I was in an environment around other workers that only took this job to receive a check. The people I worked around and with we not passionate. They were inconsiderate and did only half of their job description. It was a very sad and frustrating process. Caring for people is something I am passionate about and to see people mistreated broke my heart however, it gave me the strength and motivated me to carry on with my pursuit to enter the medical field. 5. Do you see yourself doing this job for the duration of your working career? (i.e., 15 to 20 years in the same field)

I can see myself working in the medical field for 15 to 20 years. I may switch the job title or position but I will always be in a position where I am caring for others. 6. Aside from academic preparation in school, what are some other things that you can do in order to prepare for your intended career field? Some other things I can do to prepare me for the medical field would be volunteering at different hospitals and shelters and giving emotional support to families along with patients. 7. Is there any important tips and or advice you were given by your mentor concerning your career field? During my job shadowing experience my mentor advised me to only enter this field if I am serious for if I am not It could ruin my name and prevent me from ever working in the medical field ever again. Ms.Bates my mentor also told me to always follow the book even if everyone around you is not. 8. Considering everything you have learned, what is most invaluable lesson you have learned from your job shadowing experience, and how will this help you to move forward in your intended career field? The most invaluable thing I learned and experienced from my job shadowing is to care for someone as you want to be cared for. Never treat anyone bad because you too one day will have your short comings. This will help me move forward in my intended career field and in life because it teaches self-respect, the importance of being self-less and caring.
