Dear sir, Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to bring to the notice of all citizens of this town, the extensive problem of drug abuse by the adolescence in our town. As a concerned citizen, I would like to report the incident that my daughter and I had to witness while picking her up from school yesterday. As we were walking from school, heading towards my car, we both witnessed a young man, aged not more than 17 years old, intravenously injecting himself with a dose of what appeared to be cocaine. This incident makes me especially concerned because it emphasizes the problem of drug abuse, and it demonstrates how young, innocent children can be exposed to something so repulsive at such a young age. Nowadays drugs are literally everywhere, in middle class neighborhoods, and in rich neighborhoods, in big cities and in small coastal towns like ours. Immediate actions shall be taken. As a further matter, I would like to emphasize the fact that not many people are fully aware of all the dangers relating to drug addiction. Drug addiction like any other addictioncan utterly destroys a person inside out. There are many effects of drugs which most of us are aware of, such as addiction, poor judgment, hinders one from thinking clearly, social isolation, alienation and even death. Notwithstanding, there are many other effects which most of us are not fully aware of.
