A Peek at This Week in Mrs. Zarniks Kindergarten!

April 11, 2014

Hello Parents, I really expected a sleepy and quiet bunch of children on Monday morning. Boy, was I wrong! Our first two days back, we reviewed classroom rules and academic expectations. By Wednesday, we were back on track. This week we have been busy learning about subtraction. We have reviewed concepts of taking away and breaking a whole group into 2 parts. We have also begun learning about plants and how they are similar and different. Thursday, we had our in-school field trip, High Touch High Tech Rock and Roll that was postponed due to inclement weather. The children learned about different types of soil as well as rocks and minerals. They sorted gems and rocks after they sifted through soil like real geologists. Thanks again to our TR Foundation for financially supporting this event. On Friday, a representative from Wellstar came to our classroom to teach us about water safety. It was very informative and relevant as the warm weather approaches and children are introduced to water parks, lakes and pools. There was a flier sent home that you may review with your children. Thank you again for supporting our Spring Break enrichment activities. I am proud to say that everyone contributed and even completed the journals as well. Just a reminder that next Monday through Thursday is our Spring Book Fair in the media center. Feel free to send money for your children to purchase books bin the morning. Have a great weekend and thank you for your continued support! Mrs. Zarnik
