Task 3: Micro-teaching (30marks: Individual) Implement your lesson plan in your class.

You are to write a report on the implementation. Include photographs of the implementation as evidence.

After planned the lesson plan on writing for year 1 nilam I carried out the lesson in the classroom recently. The implementation of the writing lesson was successful and my students had achieved the objective of the lesson. My criteria for a good lesson was pretty simple. If it was fun and students were involved it was a good lesson. Thats all. I do remember trying to find activities that worked and trying to make sure that students were actively engaged in the material and the lesson. First of all, I put up the lyrics of the n song and pupils sing along with the teacher. I used a chart. My pupils sang the song to the tune of Jingle Bells. Then I pointed out to pupils the phoneme /n/ in initial, medial and final positions. It was very obvious to see from white board and they learnt it meaningfully. After that the most important part was the demonstration. I showed the correct formation of the letter n. Here my pupils were given the experience to write or form the letter n using the plasticine. They were so much interested to do the acitivity and they also enjoyed the task. This is a practice through fun and play. Another practice I gave them was to trace the letter /n/ in clear legible print on an acitivity sheet. Here they practiced to write the letter on the paper itself by giving some guidance for example before they write letter in full they wrote the letter using the dots first. This helped many pupils to write the letter correctly and also catered the poor pupils weaked in writing. Besides that, the pupils were also given the opportunity to complete another worksheet. This time they managed to rearrange the letters to form the correct words based on the pictures shown in the worksheet. Overall all the pupils were actively engaged and completed the task on time. Finally. I observed them and did correction throughout their acitivity. They were also given formative assement through oral spelling practice. As a remedial work and reinforcement of learnt skills pupils fill in the phoneme /n/ in the words given. Then pupils sing the song with the correct rhythm as an enrichment task. I think I have taught the writing lesson to my pupils with all the necessary items that the pupils needed.
