Topic: 7 principals of the constitution

Objectives: TSW analyze information by sequences, categorizing, identifying cause and effect relationships, comparing, contrasting, finding the main ideas, summarizing, making generalizations and predictions, and drawing inferences and conclusions.

Value(s) s: TSW understand the structure and function of our federal system of government and address the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democratic society.

Materials/Resources/Technology needs: Computer(s), smart board, colored paper, pencil, paper, markers, colored paper, handout (160), paper plates _______________________________________________________________________ Instructional Procedure: Focusing Event (Anticipatory set) Why is it important that we learn about the 7 principals of the constitution? We will review the PowerPoint form the previous day We will play Rapid Fire from the information off of the PowerPoint.

Teaching/ Learning Procedures: Using the paper plate, TSW create an example of one principal of the constitution TSW will write the definition, Example, and a visual of the selected principal

Check (Check for understanding): I will walk over to each group and have them explain what they have written on their paper plates.

Re-teach (alternative used as needed)

TSW receive a flow chart that represents the 7 principals for the constitution and fill in the specific vocabulary terms Closure: Ask the students what the importance of the 7 principals of the constitution? Assessment/Summative Evaluation: Unit 9 Quiz

Modifications/Notes: SE- TSW be assisted by teacher, and will receive information in chunks for better understanding. The instructions that will be provided will be short and clear so there is no confusion on how to complete the assignment. TSW receive more visual examples. ELL-TSW pair with someone that can assist them in translation (if available). GT- TSW create their summary of the how they would handle the rising problems leading to the Civil War if they were in Abraham Lincolns shoes.
