Raymond Engl 1102 15 February 2014 Writing Prompt 4 If I was assigned to be a Time Traveling History Detective and I could investigate any point of history I would look into the history of the Hershey Company. I know that its kind of random and you were probably thinking that I was going to talk about an important war or something like that. Well in my eyes chocolate rises above all of it! My reason behind choosing the Hershey Chocolate Factory is because it obvious that I love chocolate! It started in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the late 1800s. In 1900, the company began producing milk chocolate in bars, wafers and other shapes. With mass production, Hershey was able to lower the per-unit cost and make milk chocolate, once a luxury item for the wealthy, affordable to all.(Hershey 2014) While I was investigation I found out the man that started all of this was names Milton S. Hershey. He was born in 1857 and ended up dying in 1945. The journey of starting the Hershey factory was not easy; it took him multiple times to finally get it right. It was at the 1893 Worlds Columbian Exposition in Chicago that Hershey first became fascinated with the art of chocolate making.(Hershey 2014) In his long and well-lived life, Milton S. Hershey proved himself to the world with his worldwide business. This journey
