Opening: -Alright guys today we will be doing things a little bit different today. We are going to starting a group research/presentation project about the worst storms that hit MS. I am going to start off by dividing you into your groups and then we will go to the library to conduct our research. I have brought with me the poster board and markers, so all that will be required of you guys will be the actual research and creating your posters to present in front of the class tomorrow. Learning Tasks: -Students will first be divided into groups by me counting them off 1-4 or 1-5 (depending on class size 4 or 5 groups is plenty). -We will go to the library with all of the needed supplies to work on posters -Students will get on the computers and research information about the worst storms that hit MS since its existence. -Groups will prepare their posters and presentations that will be given in front of the class after the test on the following day. -Below are some guidelines for the actual research and what the poster should contain: -Title of storm and date -When and where did the storm hit in MS? -How many casualties and injuries was the storm responsible for? -How much money in damages did the storm cause? -Any other interesting storm facts or info -Poster should have at least two pictures pertaining to the storm Closure: -Alright guys I think most of us can take away from this that MS and its people have endured a whole lot of suffering and economical setbacks. Tomorrow we will do our group presentations before we take our test. I want you all to know that this will work on improving your public speaking and research abilities using technology. (TIAI #3 & #6) Enrichment: -Students will be collaborating with others while working on their projects -I will be walking around and helping spark ideas with the students and assisting the groups with their work as needed. -Students get the chance to create something that represents a past historical experience that occurred in MS Accommodation Statement: By any means necessary I will provide the required assistance to students with any sort of disability to ensure that they receive the same equal learning opportunity as any other student in the class each and every day.
