2.D.02 (a)

2.D.02 (A)- Children are provided opportunities to experience oral and written communication in a language their family uses and understands. Yes
The classroom rules are displayed in the classroom using the two to three word sentences from the English language. All of the families in the circle classroom use English as their primary language; therefore, this written communication is familiar to the children and their families.

Near the kitchen there is a sign that says, Eat, then it has the American Sign Language motion for, Eat. As the children in the center begin to learn the English Language some of the parents have already taught their children the signs for basic needs. By displaying signs that go along with the English language it further increases the childs ability to express his or her needs to others in a familiar way.

On the wooden shelf there is a a variety of animals that are gr each picture the name of the a in English. While children are e puzzle they will have the chanc connect the pictures of the ani familiar English name of each a

All staff members and students use English to verbally communicate with the children. For example, in this photograph a practicum student is reading a book to the during circle time. She is reading the book in familiar English language.

2.G.01 (b)

2.G.01 (b) Infants and toddlers/twos are provided varied opportunities and materials to (b) discover they can make things happen and solve problems.

There are a variety of shapes and sizes of blocks on wooden shelves in the circle room and they are available to children at all times. The blocks provide opportunities for the children to stack, sort, and problem solve as they manipulate the blocks in a variety of ways.

The container stackers are located on the wooden shelf near the office door. The stackers allow children to problem solve as attempt to make all of the stackers fit inside one another using the process of trial and error. The children also have the opportunity to flip the stackers upside down and figure out how to stack them using that perspective.

The boat is also located on the wooden shelf alongside the stackers. The child may choose any hole to push the ball through on the top of the boat. By doing so, the ball will roll through the inside of the boat and come out at the blue bottom. This action will allow children to learn about cause and effect by thinking, If I push this ball down, then it will come out of the bottom of the boat. As children grow and develop they may experiment the cause and effect process by using multiple balls at the same time.

2.J.01 (a) 2.J.01 (a) Children are provided varied opportunities to gain appreciation of art. (a) in ways that reflect cultural diversity

The poster that is displayed on the wall near the fish tank is a work that was created by Bernard Stanley Hoyes and it is called, Journey through the Spirts. This is Jamaican artwork, and its presence in the room allows children the opportunity to experience another cultures artwork.

The art shelf for the children is located next to the kitchen table. Each cubicle in the shelf represents a different color. For each color a paint swatch is displayed to show that there are a variety of tones within every color. The display of variety of colors in several different tones gives the children the opportunity to appreciate a variety of skin tones and to be aware that one color does not dominate another.
