A Peek at Our Week:
Reading: We will continue a project-based learning unit to study genres of literature. Math: We will finish a unit on adding and subtracting with multiples of 10. Test on Friday

Reminders:
We need parent volunteers to help with the set- up of the EWE Art Show that will take place in May. Please contact Matt Tarr at 355-4924 or mtarr@greenville.k12.sc.us if you are able to help. Coach Couch is looking for parent volunteers for our 2014 Field Day. If you are able to help, please email Coach Couch at stcouch@greenville.k12.sc.us. nd Students will be able to visit a 2 grade classroom to learn about nd 2 grade. Parents are invited to nd visit 2 grade classrooms on May th 13 at 6pm.

Writing: We will use our knowledge of plants to write about how to plant seeds. Science/Social Studies: We will start a unit on rocks and minerals.

Sound Check:
We will be learning about more suffixes this week (-y, -ly, -ful). We will also work on ending blends (ft, lk, nt).

Getting 2nd Grade Ready:

Math Common Core Standard: 2.OA.3: Determine whether a group of objects (up to 20) has an odd or even number of members, e.g., by pairing objects or counting them by 2s; write an equation to express an even number as a sum of two equal addends.

Sight Words and Family Words: Sight words:

sadly, dusty, slowly, tricky, helpful
(all 5 words will be on the spelling test)

Homework Help:
As we get closer to 2nd grade, it is important that students continue to practice their addition and subtraction facts as much as possible. These facts can be found in the back of your childs STAR binder.
