Education department is moving into the STETSON model for inclusion in 20142015. All students being serviced in special education will be in a general education classroom. This includes all students in both 1st3rd and 4th-5th SelfContained Academics Units. It will not include students in the Functional Life Skills Unit. Needs Assessment CWC and SCA unit teachers need to create schedules for all students being serviced in special education. All students will be included with the exception of students with specific IEPs for self-contained academics. Projects Action Plan Special education teachers will look at all student IEPs to determine the level of need, which can include either an aide, a certified teacher or just the general education teacher. The goal is to have a schedule for each student and an assignment for all special education teachers and instructional aides. Evaluation All teachers including those in general education need more training and guidance with STETSON since it will involve all teachers. Training needs to include learning how to read and follow IEPs. Questions about the STETSON model still need to be clarified for teachers. Training on CoTeaching will also be beneficial.
